Paramo Alta IIThe Paramo Alta II Jacket was recently voted "BEST BUY" in "Women's Winter Jackets Review" in OE (Outdoor Enthusiasts) Magazine. "This is the perfect jacket for hill walking enthusiasts. It's long (scooped tail and 2" drip skirt), roomy, comfortable, silky smooth, waterproof and lighter weight than its predecessor. The deal is, it lets you walk and walk without taking layers on and off, and I have to say that on test in Scotland, that was indeed true. It seems there is abit of a split camp about Paramo jackets, in that you love 'em or, simply, you don't. But for me, it did the job, and it kept me dry as well as being utterly comfortable, light and not bad looking. Paramo has conquered the temperature regulation problem with a combination of features including a two-way reversed zip and poppered internal storm flap, and upper arm vents which all goes to keeping the core temperature of the body just right while walking. The Nikwax treatment ensures you don't get any seepage too. The hood is fully adjustable, wired to stay in place and keep rain from tumbling down you nose and, when the sun shines, its easy to roll away. The freedom of movementwas impressive without the jacket feeling oversized, and the shoulder and the arm area have a raglan sleeve design with articulated arms which adds to the effect. If you are a pack-carrying walker, there is a hem dram cord which eliminates rucking, and double layer shoulder construction which adds additional comfort when carrying a load. Additionally, as of course women have no sense of direction (!), not one, but two handy map pockets. Perfect." OE Rating: 9/10 |
