PÁRAMO'S new insulated trousers have the same weight fill as the Rab Photons and the warmth is similar. The fit is roomy so they can be worn over your normal trousers and there's a shiny inner lining that slides over layers. Shaped knees add to the ease of movement. The two-way side sips mean the Torres trousers can be easily put on while wearing boots, even with crampons, skis or snowshoes. the design of the zips at the top is unusual. Instead of running straight up the sides the zips curve inwards. And rather than a zip fly and a waist opening there is a large velcro-fastened flap. this system works okay (though men have to expose more of themselves to the weather when peeing) but so does the conventional one as used by Rab. However there is one advantage and that is that you can access your inner trouser pockets by undoing the top of the zips much more easily than with straight side zips, which matters as the Torres has no pockets. Both are excellent warm trousers so it's really a question of which side zip design you prefer. TGO April 2010 - Synthetic fill trousers
