PÁRAMO VELEZ ADVENTURE LIGHT SMOCK
TGO Rating 5 stars The review criteria was sub-500g jackets but I just had to make an exception for the Velez Adventure Light Smock. While other manufacturers struggle to achieve breathability, Páramo got there years ago. Now they’re addressing weight and, with this smock, they’ve achieved something rather remarkable. The Velez Adventure Light features Nikwax Analogy Light fabric, which combines its Pump Liner and Windproof Light fabrics to create a waterproof material that’s not only breathable but also extremely comfortable – I wear this around the house as well as on the hill – and lightweight. Lightweight, you cry? 622g? In the past I’ve regarded Páramo clothes as too heavy to wear and too bulky for the pack. The Adventure Light is the first to strike a balance. It’s not perfect – it’s warm for summer, hand pockets are concealed behind side ventilation zips and there’s a proliferation of cords and zip pulls – but performance-wise it’s unassailable. |
