Paramo Vista JacketParamo's New Lightweight Jacket
New Vista Jacket is the latest in Paramo's range of lighter waterproof shells.
By Jon Doran at Ourdoorsmagic.com New from Paramo for spring 2010 is the latest in their line of lighter-weight waterproof shells, the Vista Jacket, which follows on from the Quito and the Velez Light Smock in using a weight-saving, lighter face fabric to shave the grammes. We had a quick look at the new Vista at the weekend's Outdoors Show and it's simple jacket that differs from the Quito in that it doesn't have pit-zips, but it does feature two big zipped chest pockets for hand-warming and storage duties. They're sited to be out of the firing line for pack belts and harness straps. Cut, with drop tail, looks slightly longer than the Quito, though the fit is said to be close-fitting - bear in mind though, that that's a relative term, the Quito is also meant to be snug but we found it quite boxy - and it share's the grown-on, adjustable hood with wired peak. More details and a review to follow, but reading between the lines, if you want a lighter Paramo jacket with pockets and aren't too fussed about venting options, then the Vista could be just the thing. We don't have an exact weight, but we're guessing it'll be in the same ballpark as the Quito, which is a genuine 490 grammes for a size medium.
