HANWAG is called after its founder Hans Wagner. At the company’s headquarters in Vierkirchen near Munich, it has been making top-quality alpine and trekking footwear since 1921. “Traditional craftsmanship, combined with sophisticated technical expertise, constant innovation and a passion for what we do are the cornerstones of our wide-ranging collection.”
We share an ethos of the importance of a properly fitted boot and matching your foot to the correct last. At the factory a boot or shoe is given its own, specific form, this is defined by the last. A last is a model rather like an artificial foot. It’s made either from a solid piece of wood or plastic and the footwear’s fashioned around it. If the lasts used don’t correspond to your own foot shape, the footwear will never fit properly and hours and hours of painful hiking won’t make any difference.
