The Meindl Guffert is a wider fit than the standard Meindl fit. Oiled Nubuck leather uppers with Memory foam fit to heel area. Thanks to the Meindl Memory Foam System, boots fit to feet perfectly. A specially-developed combination of foams is used to pad the upper. Once warmed by body heat, the foam changes shape to exactly match the shape of the foot.
Waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex® lining. Meindl Comfort Multigrip sole unit by Vibram with cork and fleece footbed for added comfort.

These are a bit expensive but they suit my wide feet and narrow ankles.. They are a very well made pair of boots;comfortable, stable, waterproof, breathable and sure footed. I had these properly fitted by Whalley Warm and Dry and the combination of boots, insoles and lacing technique definitely amount to the best boots I have ever had. They are a bit heavy for road walking but there is a good balance of stiffness and flex for fell walking. I had these for 12 months and have done some long days on the hills in poor conditions. These have been very reliable and definitely worth the money. I can’t recommend the service at Whalley Warm and Dry highly enough their service and attention to detail.

I have had these boots for a while now, I hadn’t considered a review until just now. These are seriously fantastic boots, they were adjusted to my feet at Whalley Warm and Dry and fit extremely well. I hadn’t used them too extensively but am doing more now, and they are getting better and better with each outing. They are becoming like old friends, they are that comfy, and my ankles are well protected in every sense. I would highly recommend trying these boots if you need some with a higher ankle (I did due to scar tissue following and operation), these do afford a lot of protection to you.

Absolutely stunning boots, typical Meindl quality. Nice finish and very comfortable from the first step, but getting better with every walk. As they are meant to be sturdy for rougher terrain they are a bit stiff in the beginning, the sole is pretty hard but the boot still rolls smoothly with every step. I can now walk rough, gravelly paths without feeling the sharp and pointy edges of the stones – heaven! The only problem I have so far had: the grip on a smooth, wet rock face is poor, probably because the sole is this stiff. But I am so happy with these boots that I am thinking about getting a second pair.

I wanted to replace my old Meindl boots with wider ones. They were easy to call on the phone and happy to discuss the right options for me. My feet already love the new wide Meindl Guffert boots having worn them around the house for a few days and then out for some short forays. I am now ready for some serious rambling. Whalley Warm & Dry were the only place I found in the uk I could buy these boots. They do seem to know what they are talking about and offer the widest range of options (in both senses!)
