The Paramo Alta III is ideal for all walking activities to the highest level.
Mountain walking involves exertion while moving, potentially being exposed to severe weather at height. To remain comfortable, you need efficient moisture control to prevent chilling, and ventilation options to reduce clothing changes. Walkers will often be carrying packs and using navigation equipment.
The Alta III Jacket uses tough, directional Nikwax Analogy Waterproof fabric for excellent protection and moisture management. Good venting options allow temperature control, combined with walker-friendly design features.

*Ventilation options limit the need for adding or shedding layers with easily accessible upper arm vents, two way front zip and sleeves that can be pushed up for cooling
*Enhanced weather protection when carrying a rucksack provided by mesh reinforcement in the back panel
*Excellent, practical storage for maps, GPS and for handwarming from generous, well-placed pockets.

Having used extensively in the Lakes and more than happy with the Alta III went out into the Scottish Highlands in Feb to test. Combined with Paramo Grid baselayer you will struggle to find a better and more efficient combination. A steady 5 hour climb to the summit in deep snow the jacket worked well at drawing the moisture away and keeping cool then when on the summit in blizzard conditions with a wind chill of around -16 degrees forecast the heat was retained by the combination of both layers on the move. Whilst all around others are shedding layers then adding depending on the conditions you can be comfortable throughout. This jacket does what it says on the label and a worthy investment.

This is a Christmas present for my partner so can’t comment on its use at present. It fits him well and if it’s anything like the female equivalent which he bought me recently, I expect it to be superb. Mine keeps me warm, dry and fits really well. Whilst it’s the most expensive jacket that I have, it’s the best one I’ve ever had and I would therefore recommend it.

Love this jacket, the fit is spot on and like the colour. Mine is a medium and a perfect fit. I’m about 5’10 and 40″chest. Had an Alta ll before but large, and having lost a bit of weight it was a bit baggy, so sold it and bought myself a Christmas present. I’m a fan of Paramo and had their gear for many years and always pleased with the performance.

It’s a very warm jacket but the vents help. Heavier than a shell but lighter than a full on insulated jacket.
Needs a rethink about layers, instead of conventional multiple layering just a single wicking layer needed. Means buying more Paramo!

The only problem i have with this jacket is the zips . Far too small. With cold wet hands i find them very difficult to use. My jacket is a few years old so maybe this issue has been resolved. Other than that a damn good waterproof coat.

Really pleased with Jacket and on-line service. Bought the jacket as a winter cycling jacket and the slim-fit and styling works really well for this. I tried it out today on a 12 mile wet ride and I stayed dry and warm throughout.
